Mack Trucks LR

The low-entry trash specialist — now electric, too.

The low-cab-forward LR refuse chassis became the basis for the Mack LR Electric, the company's first battery-electric production truck, developed at the request of New York City's Department of Sanitation, which took delivery of the first demonstrator in 2020 before serial production began in 2021. Its dual integrated motors deliver up to 536 peak horsepower, and two-stage regenerative braking recaptures energy from the hundreds of stops a garbage truck makes each shift; the current model carries 376 kWh of battery.
